About the organisation

Sunday Friends is a group of friends who come together and serve all patients of Sion Hospital

What did we do?

Sunday Friends, the organisation we met in Week 36, runs a support class for 60 underprivileged children every Sunday. We celebrated Children’s Day with them.
Corporate trainer Yati Doshi got the kids going with a Passing the Parcel game with innovative punishments that got a lot of laughs.

Post the madness, guitarist Ravi Iyer got all of us singing and swaying to some amazing songs - Tumse Hi, Give me the Sunshine, Dil Hai Chota Sa - that calmed the classroom energy.

Ravi shares of his experience:

At first, I was a bit nervous as to what songs to play? Will these kids like it? I'd never played for such an audience. But the moment I started playing, to my surprise they knew almost all the songs I sang. The whole classroom cheered and sang with me, louder than my voice. We sang quite a few songs and finally when the session ended, many kids walked up to me and said things like "Aapne bahut accha bajaya" , "Wapis kab aaoge?", etc. Even the school staffs and some volunteers said they had a great time listening to the music.
A midst all this, one of the 3 girls who sat on the first bench facing me, shook hands with me leaving a 5 Star chocolate which was hidden inside her palm. That right there is a priceless moment for me and I shall cherish that kind gesture for as long as my memory lasts.

The celebration ended with lot of hugs and lot of pictures. Each child went home with a watch, a cake (courtesy: Harsh Pandya) and hopefully warm memories of the celebration.
