Asha Sadan – literally, House of Hope – is housed in old Umerkhadi jail in the heart of Mumbai. It houses children in the age group of 0-6 years, and young girls from 14-20 years. The institute houses less fortunate children from different backgrounds – some are lost or abandoned, some come from homes with ailing or terminally ill parents and some have convict parents. Asha Sadan’s sole objective is to provide a secure and caring home for the children and girls, all of who come from varied circumstances
Owing to the increase in insect borne diseases like- Malaria, Dengue, etc. Jaya Ma’am requested for mosquito repellants. We therefore supplied three months worth of mosquito drops, to safeguard the children from such diseases. Playing with the children of Asha Sadan is hugely uplifting and the staff headed by Jaya Ma’am is extremely supportive and cooperative.
